The Isle of Raasay has a population of approximately two hundred people and the Hotel is the only establishment of its kind on the Island. Raasay is accessed from Sconser on Skye by way of a fifteen-minute ferry crossing which is very busy in the summer months. At present the slipway for the Ferry is approximately two miles from the Hotel. A new slipway is being built in the bay directly below the Hotel and is expected to significantly increase the number of visitors.
The Island is extremely popular with Walkers, Ornithologists and Geologists, and there is an outdoor centre used by Private Schools, Colleges and other Institutions. From the Hotel there are beautiful views across the sound of Raasay to Skye and the Cuillins.
During their tenure the present Owners have spent liberally upgrading the Hotel to three stars and most rooms have been completely refurbished. This has resulted in a good increase in turnover and it is with genuine regret that the Hotel has now been placed on the Market.
